Apple announced and released Apple Intelligence to developers at its WWDC event, receiving positive feedback overall. Rather than using a single language model, the platform operates through multiple models—both large and small—working together across iOS. For example, ChatGPT integration is limited to Siri rather than the entire operating system, demonstrating Apple’s multi-modal approach. While Apple Intelligence will initially launch only in the United States, there’s a workaround to use the service in other countries.
How to enable Apple Intelligence in unsupported countries
At launch, only the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max can use Apple Intelligence, with the iPhone 16 lineup gaining access later. However, you can use Apple Intelligence outside the United States by changing your iPhone or iPad’s location settings. Here’s a detailed guide to help you access Apple Intelligence in other countries.

Before starting, make sure you have the latest iOS 18.1 beta installed, as it includes the Apple Intelligence features. Note that the iOS 18 beta won’t work—you specifically need iOS 18.1. Once you’ve installed the correct version, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and head over to General > Language & Region.
- Step 2: Tap on Add Language and select English (US).
- Step 3: Now tap on Region and select United States. (The change will have no impact on your Apple Store regions or purchases.)
- Step 4: Go back to Settings and head over to Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Step 5: Tap on Language and select English (US).
- Step 6: Once you do that, tap on Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist.
- Step 7: You will have to wait for a while for Apple Intelligence to be enabled. After a while, the message will change to Turn On Apple Intelligence.

That’s all you need to do to enable Apple Intelligence on your iPhone from outside the United States. This simple process tricks Apple’s servers into thinking your iPhone is located in the U.S. You’ll then have access to all the Apple Intelligence features included in the first iOS 18.1 beta. Apple will continue adding more features in future beta builds before the official public release.
